First Word at First Light Festival
NAC are proud to be supporting the First Word programme at First Light Festival this year. Join us on the beach in Lowestoft on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June.
First Light Festival is a community gathering that warmly welcomes those from down the road and across the world to celebrate a unique place at a very special time: the first sunrise of midsummer in the UK’s most easterly town.
Curated by award-winning poet Luke Wright, the First Word programme at First Light Festival brings the best in spoken word poetry, theatre, comedy, and storytelling to Suffolk’s sunrise coast.

Meet Your Comperes
Brigitte Aphrodite (Saturday) is a neurodivergent punk poet, theatre-maker & intersectional show-woman from Kent. She makes joyful, accessible, genre-crossing work. She’s toured with artists such as Kate Nash and Josie Long, and has written three critically-acclaimed theatre shows.
Luke Wright (Sunday) is a poet, theatre-maker and broadcaster. Luke makes a new show or play every year and schlepps it around a variety of glorious venues, occasionally presenting stuff on the radio in-between shows.
First Light Festival and Norwich Arts Centre are proud to be Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations (NPO).
