Episode 6 of the Safe Space Podcast!

in

Safe Space is a creative writing group for young people who identify as LGBTQ+, supported by Norwich Arts Centre.

It’s a welcoming, fun, and supportive place to share ideas and try new things with writing.

For those unable to join the group in person – or in need of a re-cap of the session – they have kindly created the Safe Space podcast!

Safe Space Creative Writing Group – The Re-cap Ep6 – RECLAMATION

Each episode includes an ‘Audio Letter’ which is a short burst of inspiration provided by someone leading in their field – someone queer, creative and inspirational. This episode has our very last letter – and it’s a good ‘un…

Danni Nicholls tells us about the highs and lows of her life as a writer and a musician, learning what inspired her and how to pick herself up, when things get rough. We hear music from Danni, and also from BBC Folk Award Winning duo and LGBT powerhouses, O’Hooley and Tidow.

We took our writing cue from archivist poet Gail McConnell… and although hasn’t possible to legally clip her speaking about her own work, this Podcast wholeheartedly recommends checking out her collection ‘The Sun Is Open’ and YouTube videos of her speaking directly about it here: youtube.com/watch?v=FsOMeBfUJ18
This collection deals with the sudden death of a parent.
