Tilted Women Reading Group

Times: 12.30-2.30pm
Thursday 13 March 2025. CUTS. Rehearsed reading and discussion
Tilted Women is a Norwich Arts Centre and LJ Hope Productions project which supports a series of events created and produced by women. These events will range across artforms and will give women space in which to express themselves and share experiences.
Tickets are PWYC with £0 as an option. Places are limited so please book in advance. Light refreshments will be provided.
This will be the first rehearsed reading of CUTS, a short audio play. It will be followed by a discussion on whether such plays can provoke action or merely preach to the choir. And on the issues themselves.
CUTS asks why women suffering from mental health problems are still dying in British prisons every year. The play is based on actual people and events and uses verbatim testimony. It was written by Antoinette Moses, who spent 3 years researching it and interviewing the characters who take part and was originally written as a longer promenade work.
Antoinette Moses is a playwright, author and poet who taught creative writing at UEA for ten years and whose doctorate was on the issues of writing verbatim plays such as this.
Warning
The play deals with issues of self harm and suicide and contains many descriptions of events that people may find distressing.
