A Film About Studio Electrophique
Introduced by the film’s director Jamie Taylor.
Narrated by Sean Bean, ‘A Film About Studio Electrophonique’ celebrates the home studio owned by Ken Patten at 32 Handsworth Grange Crescent, across from The Everest pub. This is where the first recordings were made for early incarnations of the bands that became The Human League, ABC, Heaven 17, Def Leppard, Clock DVA and Pulp. Not to mention the more esoteric and rarer sounds of The Electric Armpits, The Naughtiest Girl Was a Monitor and Systematic Annex.
8pm – 8:30pm
Book signing with director Jamie Taylor
Jamie will be signing copies of his book ‘Studio Electrophique: The Sheffield Space Age, From The Human League to Pulp’
8.30pm-9.30pm
I’ve Got That On Vinyl Podcast Special Launch Event – The Electronic Sound Story
Step inside the story of Electronic Sound magazine as its founders, Mark Roland and Push, take to the Synth East stage for the grand launch of their new podcast, I’ve Got That On Vinyl. Part live podcast, part chaotic memoir, this is the story of how two ex-Melody Maker journalists accidentally became magazine publishers, and somehow built one of the world’s leading voices in electronic music culture. Expect a night of wild anecdotes, creative chaos, and musical nostalgia, as the Electronic Sound office is lovingly (and haphazardly) recreated on stage. Video salutations from some of the magazine’s former cover stars will help make it an evening to remember.
9.30pm-end
Lilly Sphire
Electronic artists Lilly Sphire will be performing in the bar. Lilly Sphire delivers an immersive live performance that blends driving electronic beats with haunting live vocals.
