SPOKE presents Poet’s Palace
After the huge success of the first two Poet’s Palace Norwich shows, they are back for their first show of 2025! Expanding the community, discovering new poetic talent and inviting new wonderful audiences to spoken word events in Norwich!
Hosted by previous London headliner and local poet extraordinaire Rhian Brooke.
There will be 8 open mic slots on the night, sign up in advance but don’t worry if you don’t get a guaranteed slot because there will also be some wild card picks on the night too.
The audience will vote for their favourite open micer and the winner will feature at our next Norwich event.
Poet’s Palace host regular spoken word, poetry, rap, lyricism open mic nights for up and coming artists. We are currently expanding into educational workshops and creative projects as well.
Spoken Word is a thriving scene in the UK with an abundance of unearthed talent performing regularly on the open mic track. Poet’s Palace wants to provide a platform for Spoken Word artists to gain more exposure while facilitating paid opportunities for performance, workshop delivery and project leading. Poet’s Palace aims to be a part of the evolution of the scene, taking Spoken Word to the next level and making it accessible for all.
Through the power of the word we can unlock doors to bringing communities together through creativity and collaboration.
Headliners for this show are Christina (the winner of the audience vote from the Oct show) and the legendary Kid Anansi.
Christina
Christina is a poet and creative from Norfolk, UK. They began sharing their work at a local open mic night in February 2024 and fell in love with performing. Their writing focuses on friendship, grief, nature and joy – some heartbreak. They hope to inspire you to see magic in the every day.
Kid Anasi
“That creative hurricane and me good friend, Kid Anansi!” Benjamin Zephaniah.
The poetic equivalent of finding out that the drinks machine in your local McDonalds has replaced its Pepsi button with spiced rum. Kid Anansi is confusing, frightening, delicious with ginger ale and lemon, and unhealthy in large doses. His poetry will have you laughing, crying, biting your knuckles in second-hand embarrassment, or all three, mixing history and melancholy with slapstick humour and inimitable energy. A regular face on the BAFTA Award winning first season of Life & Rhymes, and host of poetry nights around London. His one man show: FIRST premiered in London from August to September. His debut album KID ANANSI EP: Ebonymous Posch is available to listen to on YouTube, bandcamp and SoundCloud
