Norwich Jazz Festival: Soundtrack to a Coup D’Etat @ Cinema City
Norwich Jazz festival in collaboration with Cinema City proudly presents Soundtrack to a Coup D’Etat with a live performance by Tangential Trio in the courtyard from 6pm. Film starts at 7.30pm.

Soundtrack to a Coup D’Etat is nominated for the Best Documentary Feature category at the Oscars 2025. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on 22 January 2024. It won the André Cavens Award for Best Film from the Belgian Film Critics Association.
Jazz and decolonization are entwined in this historical rollercoaster that rewrites the Cold War episode that led musicians Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach to crash the UN Security Council in protest against the murder of Patrice Lumumba.

Tangential Trio are a Norwich-based jazz three-piece featuring trumpet/flugelhorn, double bass and drums. Our trumpeter sometimes uses loops to build layers of harmony and sound, and our bassist sometimes uses effects to enhance his sound. People like the combination of pure acoustics and a little bit of electronics.
