Leader Yahael Camara Onono forged his percussive style by listening to Salif Keita and Ali Farka Touré on the one hand, and Marvin Gaye, D’Angelo and Vybz Kartel on the other, developing the way the jazz, grime and funky house sounds of London are underpinned by African and Caribbean rhythmic influence.

Through expert musicianship and the sheer power and scale of the band, Balimaya Project bring this cultural fusion vividly to life with blazing frontline horns and virtuosic kora styling.
