Nighttime. We all fear the monsters are of our imaginings – patient, malevolent, supernatural – to be lurking in the darkness. But our own terror may, on occasion, summon these creatures out of our imaginings and into reality.
Visits from the Darkness is an evening which explores this phenomenon:
Charles Dickens’ The Signalman which tells of a solitary man relentlessly haunted by a malevolent spectre.
FP McGreal’s The Cabinet of Cruelty tells of an arrogant writer-brodcaster who, with terrifying consequences, ignores the pleas of a character he himself has created.
