Vacancy – Norwich Arts Centre Treasurer
Norwich Arts Centre is seeking to recruit a Treasurer.
The treasurer is also a full member of the Board of Trustees, a voluntary group who advise, support, and oversee the work of the management team as well as advocating for the organisation.
Trustees attend four board meetings per year (held in Norwich) and are expected to also serve on sub committees that advise on specific areas of our activity.
In addition to the standard trustee duties the Treasurer has a brief to work with the Finance Officer, Director and Chair to oversee the organisations finances, ensuring that we are trading legally and, where appropriate, advising on financial projections.
The duties include:
· helping the board to carry out its financial responsibilities
· explaining financial reports to the board in a format that helps the members understand the
charity’s financial position
· advising the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities
· working with professional advisors (external auditors etc)
This is a rewarding, unpaid voluntary position, which is renewed by election at our Annual General Meeting.
Currently celebrating its 45th year, Norwich Arts Centre is one of the leading arts organisations in Norfolk and the East of England with a turnover in excess of £1 million in 2023/4. It is a registered charity and regularly funded Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
The successful candidate is likely to have a background in accounting, a passionate interest in the arts and to support the core values of Norwich Arts Centre. An understanding of charity finance and the not for profit sector may be an advantage but is not essential.
We are keen to recruit trustees from all sections of the community and backgrounds
