A new writing competition has launched that will give winners the opportunity to have their work staged at Norwich Arts Centre later this year.

Norwich based charity Colton’s Acre Trust has announced a competition for new writers based in Norfolk, entitled An Acre of Stories. This project is in association with the Young Norfolk Arts Trust and the National Centre for Writing.

Four writers will each be awarded a bursary of £1000 to create a new piece of theatre inspired by the life of John Colton, founder of the Colton’s Acre Trust. They will also be mentored through the writing process by playwright and screenwriter Steve Waters.

The completed work will be staged by a professional cast at Norwich Arts Centre in November 2022, with tickets on sale later in the year.

The competition is seeking previously unpublished writers who are over 18 and live or work in Norfolk. It’s a fantastic opportunity for new writers looking to receive a professional credit in theatre or live performance.
