+ support
Emma Rawicz has already made a name for herself as a fearless improviser, never afraid to dive into uncharted territory with each new project. CLOUDWALKER is a project that builds yet further on this reputation, with utter commitment to improvisation and spontaneous creation at the heart of her music. The tenor saxophone acoustic quartet is a timeless lineup that has been tried and tested throughout the history of jazz and improvised music. Seeking to make her own unique statement in this format, Rawicz has assembled a formidable and truly international band of Rasmus Sørensen, Freddie Jensen and Marc Michel to explore the boundaries of what is possible in the quartet. The ensemble features some of the most sought-after musicians in Europe and beyond and creates a unique chemistry resulting in thrilling performances filled to the brim with spontaneity, that evoke the fullest possible sonic palette and range of emotion within the music.
Emma Rawicz is a young musician already lauded for a sound and maturity far beyond her years. This project allows these qualities to shine in the fullest way possible, and will no doubt serve as a launch pad for further evolution as an artist and as an instrumentalist. Drawing on wide ranging and diverse influences from Nordic jazz and contemporary classical harmony to rock music and Brazilian grooves, the musical material is unique and nuanced. With each performance a celebration of spontaneity and a commitment to the sense of play and discovery within improvisation, this heavyweight quartet is set to make a lasting mark on the scene. This is a band sound you will not have heard before, and as the name suggests, these musicians intend to treat the sky as the limit of their musical endeavours.
