All of the images were taken by my Dad in the early 1980s. They are blown up from 35mm slides. I have boxes of his slides.
Whilst looking through them I notice that some images seem to be repeated, but there are slight differences. I want to pair these images or find partners for them.
By showing them together I want to try and show a passing of time, however short. Looking, and taking a picture; turning, and taking another. A few seconds.

I enjoy the colour casts, which have been heightened by the scanning and digital printing. Pinks, blues and yellows. I find that the changes in colour speak of times of day and times of year – a cold blue winter light or a warm orange summer evening.
I asked my friend Lavendhri Arumugam to write a response to these images. Lavendhri is an artist and writer who lives between Johannesburg and London. A recent MA Creative Writing graduate, Lavendhri Arumugam is presently developing a hybrid prose/poetry memoir about her father.”
