On the 45th anniversary (to the day) of the release of the classic single, Starman, Friday 28th April 2017 sees the next instalment of The Prettiest Starman, a moving, but equally joyous and uplifting, live performance and celebration of the utter brilliance of DAVID BOWIE.
The Prettiest Starman show is brought to you by Anton Pace (The Judith Charmers, Race with the Devil), Paul Rutterford (The Judith Charmers, The Fabs, Strum ‘n’ Bass), Nelson Nice (Surfquake, Park & Ride, Strum ‘n’ Bass, The Hosepipe Band) and Cara Bruns (Surfquake, Park & Ride, The Hosepipe Band). They love David Bowie and together will perform 2 sets of his best-loved songs from the golden Bowie years of the early to mid 1970s, with selections from Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Lodger and Station to Station.
Singing along at The Prettiest Starman is unavoidable and actively encouraged. The songs are the stars of this show, not the individuals on stage.
If the previous 3 sold-out Prettiest Starman events which have taken place since David’s tragic death are anything to go by, this will be a truly brilliant and unmissable night at one of the very best small music venues in the UK. For some lovely images and video clips of moments from the last show at Colchester Arts Centre (January 2017) please visit www.facebook.com/theprettieststarman
In between the live sets, there will be a constant stream of original Bowie tracks played by our invisible DJ (he is what he plays…), and images of David will play out on the big screen throughout the evening – we couldn’t possibly host a Bowie night without him being there one way or another.
So, come along, sing your hearts out, dress up if you like – but mainly, just get here!
Let’s remember this brilliant artiste together. As if we could ever forget.
If we can sparkle he may land tonight…
