Swarb! It Suits Him Well , is a touring tribute of minstrel friends that have come together to celebrate the great Dave Swarbrick and his music.

“Swarb” very sadly passed away in 2016. He left clear instructions that there was not to be a funeral. So …there wasn’t. However, before he died, he did talk about one last bash with all his friends making great music and having lots of fun. He may not have wanted a funeral but he didn’t say anything about a Wake! So, we are giving him and his friends that party and everyone around the UK the chance to raise a glass in salute and share many very happy memories of the great man.

Joining together to pay tribute to Swarb’s matchless career will be our M.D. Jason Wilson plus the Canadian folk/reggae fabulous Jason Wilson Band from Canada, Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick and Simon Swarbrick – Swarb’s maestro fiddling nephew and protege. The material will cover the legacy that is Swarb’s immense back catalogue, from his early beginnings with Beryl Marriott to the BBC Radio Ballads (Ewan MacColl, Peggy Seeger, A.L.Lloyd), Ian Campbell Folk Group to the groundbreaking duo Carthy & Swarbrick , the golden years with Fairport Convention and on through his blazing “red” years with the singer/songwriter Alistair Hulett. Never one to rest on his laurels, Swarb’s last great musical adventures were playing with the sensational Canadian Jason Wilson Band, which produced two studio albums with Swarb. The very latest ‘KAILYARD TALES’ is being mixed now and will be exclusively launched on this tour!

The troupe will be joined at various ports of call by special guests and old pals such as Pee Wee Ellis, Cathal McConnell, Duncan Wood, and many more tbc and surprises.

This will be the Wake of all Wakes and a fantastic night to remember our national folk fiddling treasure “SWARB!”
