Kingdom Brings together the work of print maker Vicki Johnson (Printer Johnson) and collage artist Paul Escott (Pushkin) for the first time, exploring their appreciation for the beauty of the natural world and the balance between living things and the man made.
Pushkin, is an analog collage artist and combining a wide range of found images and repurposing them often in surreal and playful ways to create new narratives. Self confessed hoarder of books, magazines, photographs, natural history items and more he uses his collections to both produce and inform his work.
Vicki is a print maker and illustrator combining digital design and traditional printmaking techniques. A nature documentary enthusiast, the natural world in an ongoing theme in Vicki’s work. Following on from her recent exhibition ‘Mexicana’ exploring the flora, fauna and folk art of Mexico, Vicki will be exhibiting these pieces alongside new work at the Arts Centre.
‘We felt our work would complement each other’s through our graphic styles, love of bright colours and shared interests in natural and social history. As old friends and we felt this was a good opportunity to produce new work on the common themes of the plant and animal kingdom and humans interaction with them, we hope you can join us for a look’
