Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. That fuzzy pop band ‘MAGOO’ are 25 years young in this here 2017! Pause… and process… There now.
Band Magoo are still a Norfolk based collective. With operations formulated from their Sickroom Studio compound in the woods. What, you may ask, has transpired over this quarter century? The group can’t remember, but, here is what we do know… Early days were village hall/pub/sport centre/go-kart track gigs. They then made forays into the murky world of Norwich. Released some singles on Noisebox Records. Which led to the band signing with those lovely Chemikal Underground people. Touring happens with The Delgados, Arab Strap, New Radiant Storm King and the mighty Prolapse.
There are also european jaunts, Glastonbury And the CMJ fest in New York. As well as 2 Chemikal lp’s, there have been 5 others on various labels, many singles/compilation songs, 7 sessions for the muchly missed Johnny Peel, other radio/tv bobs & bits and gigs from Devon to Serbia. Influences are many. From The Flaming Lips to Guided By Voices, The Beach Boys to Lee Hazlewood to Stereolab. Magoo release new e.p ‘ICE CAVE’ this year and are doing shows in places. Fun is being had.
