“Beautiful, moving, so well balanced in its conception and design and excellently executed.” Audience member
“This is a piece that we have high hopes for, particularly at this moment in our social history, we need artists of this calibre making work as engaging and insightful as this.” Pasco-Q Kelvin, Director of the Norwich Arts Centre
Home Solo is an exploration of what it is and how it feels to be at home in your own skin. It is an intimate performance that includes contemporary dance, words, live song, guitar and cajon. It expresses the vulnerability and resilience of the journey home, with the audience seated up-close to the performers. The show integrates voices of local community members from a range of backgrounds, talking about what it means to them to feel at home.
The piece is inspired and informed by conversations and contributions with the community about what it is to be at home with who you are and where you are, as well as the personal explorations of Ensemble performers. It encourages the audience to reflect on these themes, which are hugely important and topical today.
The performance is choreographed, produced and performed by Hayley Matthews, dancer, dance maker, Rolfer and Artistic Director of ENSEMBLE.
It is composed and performed by Hej Jones, multi-instrumentalist and composer.
