Abstract Orchestra return with their MF DOOM set, focusing on the work of DOOM and collaborations such as MF Doom and Madlib, aka MADVILLAIN.
Abstract Orchestra explores the jazz, TV soundtrack and film score aspect of the original work with classic aspects of big band writing and a focus on improvisation. There is a strong influence of Quincy Jones, Lalo Schifrin and David Shire (The Taking of Pelham 123) in the set, and arranger Rob Mitchell crafts his own sound sitting somewhere comfortably between Madlib and Quincy Jones.
The set is a dark and brooding interpretation of the masked VILLAIN’s finest work. Its high energy and high octane head nods for the full performance.
