Do you want to change your images once they’re on the computer Do you have photographs that need improving or damaged areas that need mending? This course introduces you to the techniques and skills to bring them back to life using Photoshop. It’s also a chance to explore new ways of combining images. Have fun learning, through practical exercises, about the potential that lays hidden within your pictures.
What level is the course?
This is an introductory course suitable for beginners to image editing. Basic computer skills desirable i.e. word processing.
What will the course cover?
• Getting started with Photoshop CS3.
• Optimising images.
• Selecting and manipulating image areas.
• Adjusting Colour.
• Working with Layers.
• Exploring Filters.
• Painting out image areas.
• Understanding printing issues.
• Saving in suitable file formats.
What can I expect to achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to understand and use the main features of Photoshop. You will have explored how to use Photoshop to improve your photos and understand some of the choices of format and quality available to you when saving or printing your images.
How will I be taught?
The computers are Apple Macintosh G5s with Photoshop CS3. PC users note: the software Photoshop is identical to the PC version and all files created on the course will be PC compatible. The course structure consists of a programme of structured practical exercises, demonstrations and discussions. The small group numbers ensure that one to one help and advice is given throughout.
What should I bring?
All exercise resources are provided, however you may prefer to bring your own photos to work on for the last two sessions.
Please note, most courses require a minimum of four participants to run. If we do not receive enough bookings the course will be cancelled a few days before it is due to start, and your money will be refunded. Refunds cannot otherwise be given unless the course has a waiting list and your place can be filled.
