The one and only Dogfish are offering fantastic 10% discounts on new season stock, in addition to launching exciting new local label Shhhh. Be ahead of the crowd with this exciting new fashion discovery.

Vivienne Westwood’s new collection will be taking centre stage at Catfish – come and see what the First Lady of Britain has to offer and take advantage of 10% discounts on new season stock across the store.

Fashion and styling are of the upmost importance at Sevenwolves. On top of the launch of the latest J Lindeberg collection AND 10% discounts on new season stock, Sevenwolves are collaborating with exciting local hairdressers Flint, to provide stylish cuts for all you stylish folk.

The wonderful Imelda’s will be showing all you lovely ladies (and gents) how to get your vintage styling just right with make-up and hair tutorials. Drop in and be pampered with old school glamour.

The boys that took the readers of the Daily Mail by storm, with their ever so naughty window display, will be up to mischief again. Watch live tattooing in Philip Browne with one of the region’s most acclaimed artists and a musical accompaniment from the lovely Hotbox boys.

St. Gregory’s Church is getting in on the action with an exciting vintage and retro fashion show. Hob-nob and admire the loveliness while propping up their licensed bar.

The always special Elements boutique is putting on a real shindig for all your lovely folk. Grab a glass of bubby at their bar and have fun with DJs mixing it up in store. The party will also be taken outside with a gazebo, nibbles and a possible surprise from the stylish cutting crew at The Egg.

November 11th 1983: the closest the world has ever come to nuclear war. Comedian Joe “Pops” Pooley is headlining his local comedy club. As if his job wasn’t hard enough this evening, the venue has found itself trapped inside a five-minute time-loop.

Comedian Dies In The Middle Of Joke is an interactive play devised by award-winning writer Ross Sutherland (The Times ‘Top Ten Literary Star’). Each time the stage resets, you get to play a different person in the room: a heckler, the barman, even the comedian himself. All you have to do is read the autocue and follow the prompts. The comedian is doomed to fail every time… the question is: can you die with some dignity?

Reviews of The Three Stigmata Of Pacman:

“One of the most exciting new voices to emerge on the Fringe this year. A real star in the making.”
**** The Independent

“A moving and compelling show which might have you swiftly returning for seconds.” **** The List

Tickets on sale from Friday 24 February.

Mystery Jets have announced the full details of their forthcoming fourth album ‘Radlands’, which will be released on 30th April via Rough Trade Records. The album was recorded in Austin, Texas and Streatham, London and was co-produced by Mystery Jets and Dan Carey (Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand, Emiliana Torrini).

Mystery Jets are Blaine Harrison, Will Rees, Kai Fish and Kapil Trivedi. On the making of the album ‘Radlands’, Blaine explains:

We’ve always wanted to make a record in America and after touring Serotonin the time felt perfect to go and do it. Our first three albums were entirely conceived and recorded in London so going out to Austin felt like the furthest place from everything we knew. We arrived with a handful of songs, but one in particular felt like it captured the spirit of why we had come there. It was called Radlands (a fusion of the 1970s Terrence Malick film ‘Badlands’ and Redlands, Keith Richard’s Sussex estate), which is also what we named our studio; a big old wooden house on the banks of the Colorado river.
All we brought on the plane were the guitars on our backs, so we ended up borrowing all this amazing valve gear from an old guy called jack who ran a little studio up in the hills-which is why the songs sound the way they do. In the daytime we wrote lyrics on the porch and in the evenings a family of Deer would gather in the back yard to hear us play. Some nights we drove into town to drink and bring people back to play on the songs.
When we arrived home, it was hard to believe any of it even happened. It somehow all felt like a strange dream. But when Dan Carey heard it and invited us down to his studio we listened back to everything and it was all there, it was real. All we were missing were some gospel singers, which he found in the Streatham community ladies choir…
Twelve months on, and we are gearing up to take Radlands on the road. Its been a long time and we cannot wait to see you all again.
xBlaine

Comic:
The vinyl format of ‘Radlands’ will include an illustrated comic by Eisner Award-winning British comic artist Glenn Fabry, famous for his work on Preacher and The Authority.

Emma Jarvis: First Impressions

Wednesday 29th February-Saturday 10th March

11am-4pm, CAFE GALLERY

An exhibition of fashion photographs by Emma Jarvis:

At 17 years old this is my very first exhibition and therefore First Impressions seems an appropriate name. As a young amateur photographer I have been studying A level photography over the past year and have begun to specialise in fashion, editorial and surreal images. The exhibition itself looks at various characters and mind sets, looking at schizophrenia, innocence and craziness. Relating back to the title the photos represent the different impressions that the characters create and the various ways different types of people perceive the world.

In partnership with Creative Arts East and Somewhere To…
