SKIPYARD are a heavyweight reggae dub band from North Norfolk, England. They believe and practice in the true DIY ethos of original roots music; drawing influences from Jamaican dub culture, the modern UK European roots scene as well as blues, soul, rock and rhythm music all over.
A SKIPYARD live show is a deep roots experience; featuring their own compositions, as well as classic tunes from their arsenal of legendary reggae riddims. All featuring original lyricism from their unforgettable mic man King Rah. Coming in with a tight heavy rhythm section, authentic percussion a booming three piece horn section – SKIPYARD always get the people dancing.
In the time SKIPYARD have been playing together they have had the fortune of sharing the same stage as Toots Hibbert, Horace Andy, The Mighty Diamonds, Mykal Rose’s Black Uhuru, The Hempolics, Pama International, Bad Manners, Gentlemans Dub Club and many more. They been playing at events since 2011, at too many places to list, but including One Love Festival, Strawberry Fair, Symmetry Festival, Maui Waui, Trunchonbury, Harlequin Fayre numerous gigs locally further afield at places such as Norwich Arts Centre, UEA LCR, The Waterfront, Epic Studios, Shucks @ Drove Orchards many many more.
Having already released one album, of original material, SKIPYARD are currently in the process of making their feature length second record and have some vinyl single releases in the pipeline.
