“Sink Ya Teeth’s sound arrives fully formed—a melding of post-punks like ESG and The Raincoats with the early machine patters of Chicago house.” – Pitchfork
“…quirky and brilliant songs in a perfectly sparse, spartan sound with songs that captivate with their melodic thrill and catchy as fuck vocals and bass lines…” (Louder Than War)
Join Norwich based electronic duo Sink Ya Teeth to celebrate the release of their self-titled debut album, out 1st June.
Maria Uzor and Gemma Cullingford partnered up two years ago to form Sink ya Teeth, and wrote, recorded and produced the album from their living rooms last year.
Weaving threads from post-punk, Chicago house, and 80s/90s dance music, the pair have produced an album of slick synth-pop that will make you wish it was the weekend again.
“A lot of the album was written over the Summer” Maria says of the songwriting process. “When we wrote it, we weren’t aware of a theme, but one night in a bar in Glasgow we started discussing it and realised that most of the songs were about coping mechanisms that we put into place as humans”
Sink Ya Teeth’s first full-length pays homage to the minimalism of early 80s dance music, but with a playfulness that swings effortlessly between groove and gloom.
The album includes their previous singles Pushin’, ‘If You See Me’ and ‘Glass’, all of which were championed by Steve Lamacq, Amy Lame and Lauren Laverne on 6 Music and Huw Stephens on Radio 1’s Introducing. CD and Vinyl will be available to buy on the night.
