Informal documentary photography has become increasingly prevalent since the introduction of cameras on mobile phones. Nights out are charted in detail and uploaded to Facebook within minutes. The low resolution of the images matters less than the subject matter, and the portability of the camera makes any user capable of capturing events. Conventions of ‘technique’ are discarded, and a new aesthetic has emerged: photos are no longer taken from the point of view of the photographer but at arm’s length. This is an open submission exhibition, celebrating the variety of images that can be captured on a mobile phone.
