Check out Bombay Bicycle Club’s remix of Dog is Dead upcoming single “Two Devils”
Formed from the meeting of five lively minds in Nottingham in 2008 Dog Is Dead have self-released a trilogy of singles. The trilogy consists of ‘Glockenspiel Song’, ‘Young’ and ‘River Jordan’.
Captivating their home town of Nottingham almost immediately, a string of festival performances across the likes of Dot to Dot and Splendour in 2009 had suggested this might be the way and confirmation came in repeat showings in 2010 in the fields of Glastonbury, where they became the only unsigned band to feature on the BBC2 coverage, and Summer Sundae. Huw Stephens declared ‘I defy you not to like this band’ whilst fellow Radio 1 type Kissy Sell Out was so enamoured he created his own remix of ‘Glockenspiel Song’.
2011 was a massive year for Dog Is Dead, having released a compilation EP of their self release singles, started work on their debut album and released limited edition ‘Hands Down’ – their debut major label single which gained support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, XFM, Q Radio and even a spot play on Fearne Cotton’s Radio 1 show. Furthermore, they appeared as themselves in hit TV show ‘Skins’ and played an array of festivals across the UK this summer. They rounded off the year with a show at KOKO on New Year’s Eve.
‘This upcoming Nottingham quintet have quite the knack for making bright, breezy and infectious indie pop’ – The Guardian
